ENVELOPE MACRO FOR WORD PERFECT 5.0
AND HEWLETT-PACKARD LASERJET II
This macro will allow Word Perfect 5.0 users to print an address on
an envelope in a Hewlett-Packard Laserjet II by placing
the cursor under the upper-lefthand character of an address in an
letter, and pressing <Alt-E>.
Before you can use this envelope macro, you must set up
WordPerfect 5.0 to accept it.
To do this, enter WordPerfect 5.0 as you normally would.
Press <Shift><F7>, then <S> to select the printer. Highlight the
LaserJet entry and press <3> to edit. Press <4> for the forms
option.
You are presented with a list of the forms you can use with
your LaserJet. If "ENVELOPE" is one of the listed forms, highlight
it and press <3> to edit it, then skip to the next paragraph;
otherwise, press <A> to add a new form. Press <5> for the envelope
option.
Press <I> for form size, <0> for "other!' Enter 4 for the
width and 9.5 for the length. Press <2> for orientation and <2>
to select the landscape choice.
Then press <4> for location, <3> for the manual option and
<3> for "initially present!' Type "Y" and press <5> for page
offsets. Enter 2.7 for the top and I.2 for the side. Your screen
now should look like this:
Select Printer: Forms
Filename HPLASEII.PRS
Form Type Envelope
1 - Form Size 4" x 9.5"
2 - Orientation Landscape
3 - Initially Present Yes
4 - Location Manual
5 - Page Offsets - Top 2.7"
Side 1.2"
Selection: 0
Press the <Shift><F1> set-up key combination. Press <7> for
the location of auxiliary files, then <3> for
keyboard/macro files. Type "C:/WP50" (or the name of the
subdirectory where WordPerfect 5.0 should look for your
macro files). Again press <F7> until you are returned to
the blank document screen.
You have to perform this set-up procedure only once.
The macro strokes are shown ln the box below. You begin
and end the macro definition process by pressing the
<Ctrl><FlO> key combination. Name the macro "ALTE" at the
prompt.
You should be "walking through" an actual envelope
print-out procedure as you define the macro. When you come
to the print command (<Shift><F7>, <Y>) three-fourths of
the way through, put a blank envelope in the paper tray.
When the macro has been written and saved, you may print
envelopes simply by putting a blank envelope in the
printer, placing the cursor on the first letter ln the
address onscreen and pressing the <Alt><E> key combination.
A final note: Make sure any macros you already have ln
WordPerfect 5.0 are ln the subdirectory you specified
above. In other words, all files with the extension ".WPM"
should be ln that subdirectory. If not, copy them into
lt.

Note: The information above, and the macro listed originally appeared in
the Lawyer's PC Magazine. I have modified the macro to add beeps and
pauses to allow you to add an extra line (typically an :Attention
So-and-So" line) to the block which will print on the envelope. When
the macro pauses and beeps, include any matter you wish in the block by
using the cursor keys, then press "Return", and the macro will
continue. This will happen three times during the macro; once for the
original blocking, once for the block to print, and once for the
deletion of the copied block.
